We all have stressful weeks or days that really just don’t agree with us, but sometimes we feel really bad about staying in and watching stuff on Netflix or YouTube all day – but why? The TV of today isn’t like the TV of yesterday, and there are all kinds of great reasons to watch things on our computers nowadays. The couch-potato stigma is no longer relevant because the things we watch have caught up with the times and are providing excellent entertainment for great prices. Here are some reasons to stay inside and watch things on those tough days.
You can learn a lot
From DIY projects to Documentaries to even watching lectures from prestigious Universities around the world in order to learn something new, the internet in general has given us a great opportunity to better ourselves in any way we’d like. Not only that, but unlike actually going to school, there’s no homework or grades – so absolutely no stress! If you could go to school to learn about interesting things without any worry about grades, wouldn’t you be interested in taking a class or two? That’s what the internet looks like now – free learning for everyone!
TV is the new movies
It’s no secret that budgets are higher for TV than they ever have been, and the quality of programming in general is exceptional now. It used to be that in order to get a really masterful experience, you’d need to go to some art-house cinema and watch some Lars Von Trier, but nowadays, all you need to do is flick on House of Cards or Orange is the New Black. TV is becoming the new high-art medium and the stories it’s telling are phenomenal.
It’s a lot cheaper
It’s no secret that living in Toronto gets expensive sometimes, especially when you’re going out on the town regularly. Sometimes it’s best just to stay in, relax, and take it a bit easy on your wallet – and what better way to do that than snuggle up in a blanket and watch old episodes of Friends? It pays to be smart with your money in this economy – literally – so don’t let peer pressure get the best of you. Your friends and the bars will always be there, so it’s OK to take a night or two for yourself sometimes.
