Now that we’re into March, we’re all itching for some of that Toronto springtime weather. Until that happens, we’re all stuck with trying to brighten up our apartments with some bright colours.
Like last week, we at Toronto Rentals wanted to bring you a super, ridiculously easy Ikea hack. This one doesn’t require a drill, hammer or even paint. In about 10 minutes, you’ll end up with a perfectly bright and colourful rainbow table for your living room or bedroom, all for $50-$60.
- The parts. You’ll need
- Lack side table – $9.99
- OR Lack coffee table – $29.99
- Japanese washi tape in several colours, available on Amazon – $2.50 each
- Retractable knife/razor
- Clear lacquer
- Do it. It’s one of those DIY projects that barely needs any instructions. Apply the coloured washi tape to the table top, and extend it over the sides. You can leave the legs white, or cover them with tape, too. Use the retractable blade to get a perfectly straight cut where the tabletop ends. And, make sure you apply the tape so it’s perfectly straight across the tabletop. Continue applying coloured tape and alternating colours. When it’s done, you could apply a clear lacquer over the top to protect the table. Let dry before using!
