We all want nice furniture without the Pottery Barn price. That’s where Ikea Hacks come in, and today’s is perfectly sized for small Toronto apartments. Plus, the price is fantastic! It takes a very boring Ikea nightstand and transforms it into a vintage, exposed-wood piece that’s worthy of your love. Here’s how to make it happen.
- The parts. You’ll need
- Hemnes nightstand – $69.99
- One metallic bar pull (per night stand). Try this for inspiration. You’ll want something that screws in in one place, not two.
- Sandpaper
- Clear stain
- Do it. Remove the drawer from the nightstand and disassemble it by removing the front of the drawer from the rest of the assembly. Sand it right down until the natural wood shows perfectly. Make sure to sand the sides, top and bottom of that front panel, but whether or not to do the inside is up to you.
After sanding, stain the panel with clear stain and let dry. Then attach the new bar pull, and reassemble the drawer.
That’s it! Such a small change for just a few dollars will make such a big difference to this piece. You can make two and place them on either side of the bed, or use it in the entryway.
