Light, airy furniture helps small spaces seem larger, or at least more bearable. Enter today’s Ikea Hack: it’s a dining room table that’s perfect for apartments because of its compact size and airy feel. Plus, assembling it is so ridiculously easy. No one will ever guess it’s Ikea.
The parts. You’ll need:
- Jokkmokk table w/ 4 chairs – $169.00 OR Linmon table top in birch 47 1/4×23 5/8 ” – $23.99
- Hairpin table legs, try these x 4 – $19.00 each
- Power sander (optional)
- Wood stain (optional)
Do it.
You’ve got choices here. First, if you opted for the table and chair set, you’re going to want to remove the existing table legs and the trim from underneath the table top. The colour of the Jokkmokk table top isn’t the best, so here’s where that power sander is going to come in handy. Give the whole table top and sides a good sanding, then get rid of any sawdust and stain the whole thing. When it’s dry, continue to the next step.
If you’ve gone for the Linmon table top (highly recommended), sanding and staining is optional. You could even opt for the white colour Linmon table top, which looks great with black hairpin legs.
Either way, you’ve probably guessed the last step: Attach the hairpin legs to the tabletop, and voila! Gorgeous, modern table.
By the way, if you did get the Jokkmokk set, you’re going to want to spruce up those chairs, too (they’re an eye sore).
