This weekend was made for you if you love art! On the docket: an art-making party on Friday night where you can draw genitalia with a drink in hand, then a pay-what-you-can festival that celebrates a myriad of art types, followed by art made by artisans (and more) at the Santa in the Junction Winter Market. All part of the lineup of awesome Toronto events happening this weekend, December 2-4.

Adult Art Attack

Lofty promises aside, this art event on Friday night helps you channel your inner Jack Dawson (of Titanic) with some sexy art making. As in, you’ll probably be drawing cartoon penises and vaginas. Come solo, with a date or with a friend. Your ticket includes a drink, a gift and more, which likely refers to some art supplies.

When to go: Friday, 8-10 pm

Where at? The Hive, 1173 Dundas E

Tickets: $40

Long Winter

Now in its 5th year, Long Winter is a festival of music, art, dance and comedy. It starts in November, and continues until March, and is an all-ages show with a pay-what-you-can entrance fee. More than 250 local artists are involved in the show, which celebrates experimental art primarily, and even includes video games made by Toronto programmers. Rolling Stone hailed it as an “anarchic, circus-like atmosphere of first-wave Lollapalooza, but stuffed inside a notoriously haunted four-level Victorian banquet hall.”

When to go: Friday and Saturday 7 pm

Where at? Polish Combatants’ Hall, 206 Beverly

Tickets: $10 or pay what you can

2016 Gingerbread Build – Habitat for Humanity GTA

Don’t build a gingerbread house just for fun, build it to raise funds for a good cause. Head to the Habitat for Humanity’s annual Gingerbread Build to, you guessed it, build a gingerbread house. The ticket price includes a gingerbread house building kit, and proceeds go to Habitat for Humanity.

When to go: Saturday or Sunday, various times. Book your shift ahead of time here.

Where at? Toronto City Hall Rotunda, 100 Queen W

Tickets: $50

Santa in the Junction Winter Market

Because there’s nothing that says Christmas better than listening to Mrs. Claus read Christmas stories, Santa in the Junction should be on your to-do list this weekend. It’s a family-friendly even on Sunday, featuring performances by the Creative Children’s Dance Centre, live music workshops and lots of vendors serving food, hot drinks and cold bevvies.

When to go: Sunday, all day

Where at? 2960 Dundas W

Tickets: Admission is free

Erin Cardone: Born on the Prairies, Erin Cardone grew up knowing there was more to life than canola fields and AAA Alberta Angus. So she escaped, living in Europe and Australia, white-knuckling it through plates of calf brains and raw horse meat, and learning languages she can't remember anymore. After a stint as a jaded, skeptical journalist, she changed tack and began writing rather awesome blogs and showing businesses that advertising is dead, so long live social media, with her businesses Legendary Social Media. She now splits her time between various Canadian cities, Costa Rica and wherever else the wind blows.
