Here’s some truly awesome stuff happening in Toronto this weekend. Here’s our list of some of the events you might want to check out between Sept. 11 and 13.
TIFF
September 10 is the official launch date for the 40th rendition of the Toronto International Film Festival. Over the weekend, check out dozens of film screenings, street festivals, TIFF in Your Park free films and a pretty much endless list of other super cool TIFF related stuff. Check out the Big Sound Festival Soul Revue on Saturday, starting at 9:30.

Canada’s Bridal Show

The biggest bridal show in the country does a fall and a winter exhibition every year. This weekend, brides-to-be, women and general and reluctant men can stroll around and look at the vendor displays, meet wedding planners and photographers and taste cake. White chocolate cheesecake, anyone?
When to go: Friday, Sept. 11 5-10 pm; Saturday, Sept. 12 10 am-9 pm; Sunday, Sept. 13 10 am-6 pm

Beach Celtic Festival
Hike up your kilts and head over to Kew Gardens for the 12th Annual Beach Celtic Festival, with vendors, live music and some good ol’ Celtic dancing.
When to go: Saturday, Sept. 12 and Sunday, Sept. 13, 9 am-7 pm

Taste of the Kingsway

A midway, beer, wine, carnival games and endless supplies of local food make the Taste of the Kingsway a favourite annual pastime. Plus, there’s always live music.

The Tim Hortons Southside Shuffle

Sure, it’s out in Mississauga, but it’s the weekend, so why not? The Southside Shuffle is Port Credit’s blues and jazz fest is mainly about the tunes, but there’s also some pretty fine food and vendors to check out… plus beer gardens! Check out headliners like Pianorama, The Tonkas, Bobby Rush Big Band and Scott Holt.
