Buff up on your Team America impressions: Matt Damon filming in Toronto this summer

Prepare for some mega star sightings: Matt Damon and Reese Witherspoon will be in Toronto this summer for the filming of Downsizing, a satirical film by director Alexander Payne, who directed The Descendants. The synopsis: A guy realizes his life would be much better, if he were to shrink himself. So he does so and moves to a community of people who have done the same.

More stars cast for the film include Alec Baldwin, Jason Sudeikis and Neil Patrick Harris.

Thanks to a very pathetic Canadian dollar and Toronto’s reputation as a heck of a great backdrop for Hollywood films (Good Will Hunting, with Matt Damon, and American Psycho, with Reese Witherspoon), we’re likely to get our fill of Hollywood A-listers here over the next while.

Downsizing is scheduled to shoot in Toronto between April 12 and July 11.

Vin Diesel is also expected to make appearances in Toronto from now until May for the shooting of The Return of Xander Cage, the most recent installment of the XXX movie franchise.
